The Laker Theatre Company did a phenomenal job with its production of "The Outsiders." A good portion of the cast and crew were first-timers, and they did such an awesome job that you'd never know that this was their first production. All of the cast and crew knocked this hard-hitting play out of the....well, auditorium! Congratulations to all for doing a stellar job and giving the audience such a powerful experience. The cast and crew included high school students and 8th-graders.

Here is one of the biggest announcements we make all school year: The 2026 Hueschen Scholarship recipients are
-Madison Scaddan, daughter of Paul and Celine Scaddan of Pigeon
-Ava Gardy, daughter of Eric and Jennifer Gardy of Pigeon
-Sarah Steinman, daughter of James and Tricia Steinman of Elkton
As Hueschen recipients, these three young ladies received a full four-year scholarship to Michigan State University. This is a science scholarship, so Ava, Madison, and Sarah will all be studying science at MSU. Ava will study human biology and enter the nursing field, eventually becoming a nurse-midwife. Madison will study human biology at Lyman Briggs College. She then plans to enter the medical field to become a surgeon. Sarah will study human biology at the Lyman Briggs College, and she plans to become a family physician through the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine.

A huge congratulations to all three! This is the culmination of many years of hard work and dedication. They are pictured here with Superintendent Jill VerBurg.
