Anton wins contest

The Huron Intermediate School District (HISD) packs and distributes Family Exploration packs three times throughout the year that every child enrolled in Huron County schools (from kindergarten through second grade) receives to take home to engage with their families. The theme for the second-grade pack is always “Snow & Ice” and is distributed throughout the winter by ISD staff. Within the second-grade pack is a blank book titled “How to Build an Award-Winning Snowman,” and each child has the opportunity to write and illustrate a story to fit the title and submit it to the ISD.

This year the ISD received several entries and the chosen winner was Anton Zagorski, a second grade student in Tracy Gordon’s class at Laker Elementary. (Pictured below are Katie Parker-HISD, Tracy Gordon-Laker Elementary, and Anton Zagorski.) According to Mrs. Gordon, “Anton is a very kind and hard-working student. He loves the MSU Spartans and the great outdoors. He always pays attention to detail when completing his work and is excited about the books that he is reading.”

Anton’s prize included two new books from the ISD (which he is pictured selecting below), a blank hardcover book to write another story, a certificate of recognition, and a hardcover published copy of the book that he wrote.
